"Mr. Goat" was inspired by the exuberant animal paintings of Daniel McClendon. McClendon lays a canvas on the floor and starts splashing paint until something begins to appear. That's how this piece started. Then I added an explosion of cloth scraps and lots of machine sewing, as well as painting devilish glints in his eyes. Hand embroidery holds the edges of the canvas onto the backing. "Mr. Goat" was part of an invitational show at Visions Art Museum, San Diego.
